Intraoperative Neuromonitoring (IONM) involves monitoring your nerve function during surgery. This is done using small electrodes placed over nerve and/or muscle areas of your body and connected to specialized equipment. Any nerve signal deviations are reported immediately, allowing your surgeon to make informed decisions during your procedure. IONM has become a standard of care for many surgeries. The data we gather can help with positioning, testing neurological structures, and optimizing surgical outcomes.

Before your surgery, your Accurate Neuromonitoring technologist will introduce themselves in the operating room holding area and answer any questions you have. They will ask you to sign a consent form and then place small electrodes on your skin over the nerves and/or muscles to be monitored. Additional sterile subdermal electrodes may be added after anesthesia is given. Monitoring usually starts after anesthesia and continues throughout the surgery, providing your surgeon with real-time data to inform their decisions. We will conclude monitoring shortly before you wake up from anesthesia, upon dismissal by your surgeon.
